During the early nineties the major events continued, the 1990 and ’92 – Air Shows and Tiger Moth air races were well attended. Don Moor and Bernie Sarroff were made honorary life members.
1990 – 2000
In 1994 the club opened a new Office complex, complete with Briefing Rooms, Simulator, and Instructor offices. The opening ceremony took place at the Air show.
The Premier of NSW John Fahey, unveiled a plaque naming the building the ‘Jack Fahey Flight Training Centre’ after the long serving Club President Jack Fahey – (no relation). Later in 1994, Jack Fahey resigned after a record 29 years as President of the aero club, due to health reasons. The 7th President, B.J. (Bernie) Sarroff was elected as the new leader.
During 1996, John Youll and Bill Hitchcock were honored with honorary life memberships. After 49 years of employment at the Aero Club, Chief Engineer Lance Fletcher retired. An evening and presentation in the Clubrooms honored his long service to the Club. Club member John Fisher, flew his Tiger Moth from England to Australia on an epic flight breaking a number of records.
The regular air race and air show once more starred the RAAF Roulette Aerobatic Team. A wall in the main office building was unveiled and named the Presidents Wall. The wall honors the men who have lead the Club over the past 70 years.
The Club entered its 70th year of operations in 1998. The Club secured a number of University students studying the Newcastle University Aviation Diploma course and took on line three Cessna 172s to cover the university flying plus Club flying.
In its 70th year the Club employed 14 staff members with the RNAC Social Club is on site with amenities such as a licensed bay, restaurant, swimming pool, etc. Yanda airlines operated a commuter service off the field; also Skymaster Air Charter, Flyrite Micro Light Centre and Action Acrobatic School are based on the property.
